Our Services

The Resource Center services are available to all in need of help. Through these services, we provide assistance to those with language, cultural and/or legal barriers and require additional education and advocacy for various issues. Are you unsure if we can help you? That is okay. El Concilio offers this service free of charge to all who are in need. We provide help with everything from medical bills, completing applications, reviewing and consulting with court paperwork, connecting with professionals through bilingual support, or just figuring out what your next step is. Whatever you need, we are here to work with you to get you where you want to be.

Many immigration and other legal cases require legal documents of various kinds to be readable in English. El Concilio is happy to assist with this. A one-page translation usually takes 2-3 business days. Depending on the type of document the Council will charge a certain fee. Below is an average list of service charges that Council will charge for translations:

El Concilio is able to provide professional interpreters for medical, legal and other various settings for sight, consecutive and simultaneous interpretations.

  • The average cost for interpretations is $45/per hour Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:59 pm.
  • During after hours on Fridays at 5:00 pm to Monday 7:59 am and holidays (includes New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve) are $55/per hour.
  • Depending on the environment and type of interpretation style, the cost may vary. Please note that these terms are flexible and that simultaneous interpretations typically are higher in cost due the complexity of the service.
  • Depending on need and income, some fees are able to consider for a fee waiver.

Other language services available include letter writing, resume writing, transcription/translation of written documents, or other special considerations.

  • Letter writing for address and/or income verification requires a $10.00 service fee which includes a notary seal.
  • Resume writing is available free of cost, however, donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated.
  • Transcription/translation and other special considerations are handled on a case-by-case basis.

  • Renewal of Permanent Resident Card
  • Naturalization

All immigration services have a low fee.

Community Partnerships

El Concilio has a rich history of helping the most vulnerable of persons with the most sensitive of issues. Our office works hard to listen to those in need of assistance with navigating services involving domestic violence, sexual abuse, harassment, discrimination, and general risks to safety. Our network of partners has a wealth of resources that we can help introduce and access for your safety needs.

Does you or your family need food but don’t speak English? El Concilio, in proud partnership with Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, can set up referrals for you and your family with one of their 26 Kalamazoo county-wide pantries as part of their Grocery Pantry Program.
